Blackcurrant Spread
The blackcurrant (Ribes nigrum) is a woody shrub in the family Grossulariaceae, native to Europe and parts of Asia. It produces clusters of small, deep-black berries that are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
The berries are commonly used in jams, jellies, syrups, and liqueurs, as well as in culinary dishes and as a natural food supplement.
The leaves of the black currant plant are also used to make tea. The plant can be grown in a variety of soils, but prefers well-drained, fertile soils with a neutral to acid pH. They are often propagated by cuttings.
